The snow-capped Santa Isabel is one of the mountains in the Central mountain range of Colombia. Its summit rises to 4,965 meters above sea level, and marks the border between the departments of Risaralda, Tolima and Caldas, the former being the highest. It is the lowest altitude glacial mountain in Colombia and the fastest desolation.

WHAT INCLUDES?

ITINERARY

DAY 1

We leave at 6:30 am in a 4×4 vehicle from the city of Manizales located at 2,100 meters above sea level. The tour will take place through different paths where you can observe the Caldense mountain culture. This trip lasts approximately 3 hours until you reach the El Cisne refuge at 3,800 meters above sea level; There we will enjoy a mountain breakfast, multiple accommodations and an acclimatization walk to the green lagoon in the heart of the Nevados park located at 4,100 meters above sea level. Returning to the refuge we will enjoy a mountain lunch, in the afternoon there will be a technical talk on progression in glacial terrain. At night we will enjoy dinner.

DAY 2

A good day starts early!

 

1:30 in the morning we will begin our second day of the expedition; After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will travel by vehicle from the El Cisne refuge to the beginning of the conejeras trail, which is located at 4,100 meters above sea level and is 3.5 km away. Once there we will advance 650 meters to reach the edge of the central glacier. Depending on the climatic, emotional and physical conditions of the group, it is decided to continue to the summit. This day we will enjoy lunch in a rural restaurant via Manizales. We return to the El Cisne shelter where we will board the jeep that will take us back to the city of Manizales, thus ending our expedition.
